FBI Agent Whelan, still traumatized from the loss of his former partner, is asked by the bureau to join the hunt for a serial killer who's targeting his childhood friends from Kansas City. The killer's calling card is an orange pharmacy pill bottle, shoved down the throats of the victims, with their caps numbered in Sharpie, announcing more to come. The weapon of choice is poison—a new and elusive compound created by a mastermind.
